This weekend, my Belgian host came visiting in Bonn with her fiance. She is Nigerian and her fiance is Belgian. My house-mate and I decided to take them to the city of  Köln as the fiance was interested in seeing the Dom.

A one time tallest building in the world title holder, the Kölner Dom (officially Hohe Domkirche St. Peter und Maria, English: "High Cathedral of Sts. Peter and Mary") or Cologne Catheral as widely known is a Roman Catholic Church in Cologne, Germany. It is one of the largest churches in the world and took more than 600 years to complete. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, dubbed "an exceptional work of human creative genius."

Madam, you never see your daughter? Asked the Customs Officer.
No oh, said my mum.

My mum was actually looking for the skinny girl who left Nigeria in 2010, she did not believe all the stories my sister told her about me being fat or having my hair shaved off. I turned around as soon as I got my luggage and she had this surprise look on her face. She could not believe it.

I have pretty much always been a skinny girl, I only got fat in late 2009/early 2010 while busy sleeping everyday with no job. I remember people's reaction to my fatness then and that was the only time I have ever been really fat...I lost all the weight the moment I started working again in Lagos.
I gained most of the fat then by sleeping and doing nothing, I was never one for food. I came across some really skinny pictures of me from 8years ago, my jjc days in the university...kai young shall grow was my name.

As a child, I hated food, a slice of bread was too much for me to finish...the house-helps always force-fed me and they had the power to beat me up if I refuse to eat.

I really don't know where all the fat came from self, for a long time in India I was slim and I remember always telling my team-mates that I needed to get fat. By November 2011, I was already looking round.


I am still not really a food person, I get to eat a lot nowadays sha and my mouth never stops moving. I am always popping something into it, I need to limit my ijekuje.  I have gained 5kg since I arrived in Bonn, nothing was lost to the fast self, my housemates are too blame for this :P. I am too lazy for the gym, I cannot go on a diet self.

Till I decide on what to do, I shall continue deceiving myself. Whenever people ask why I am now fat, I would give the exact response a friend gave, "I went to chop peace of mind".
I will not kill myself biko.

I think I am done travelling.
I am done living far away from home.
I am done living without my families and friends.

I returned to Germany on Wednesday, Turkish Airline decided to misplace my checked-in luggage. Everyone said I should not panic, my luggage came in today. I was in Lasgidi for 10days, I miss home. I am not sure Germany would ever grow on me, I think I left a part of me in India and the other part of  me longs for home.

I got to celebrate Eid with my family, I got to step into a mosque after so long and I was home for my mother's birthday. I went to mark attendance in the CIPM exam hall because I just was not prepared for that exam. I was able to see few friends, but I was so tied up that it was exhausting just been there. Lasgidi is still very much the same and just like home that it is, I felt at home. I did not even mind the power cut, my phone was practically dead most of the time and airtel had a field day chopping my credit anyhow.

My little sis, Zainab is all grown up, Aisha is now a graduate, too many stories floating around, everyone is so different and yet still the same...it felt good to be home. It actually felt right and, home is definitely where my heart is.

I was in Belgium for the weekend with friends. We were all members of AIESEC in Nigeria
It was a planned reunion, even though most people backed out in the end, those of us who made it had so much fun. A friend came in from the UK, one from the Netherlands, one of my housemates and I and our beautiful host.

It took us less than 3hours to arrive in Brussels from Bonn, we left after work on friday and travelled by road. There is this shared car method where car owners post on designated websites their travel itinerary and this is so cheap. Brussels is so cool and less structured like Germany. My housemate said Belgians are happier than Germans.

My housemate is the best travel mate ever, we were not ashamed to display out 'JJCness'. We were laughing so hard at ourselves and giggling like high school kids. Our hosts were so cool and I was so happy seeing friends again after such a long time. It was a rainy weekend in Belgium as well as Bonn, we are still looking for summer oh. The rain was not enough to dampen our mood.

The weekend ended with Barbecue made by our landlord. The man wanted to kill us with meat, at some point he said we were too slow in eating. Best weekend in Bonn so far.
I shall be on a blogger hiatus for the next one month, Nigeria is confirmed for mid August. Ramadan is only few days away.
